Wohoo! It’s Day 12 of the “30 Day House Cleaning Challenge”.
You have been working really hard to get your house all cleaned up and I am really sooo proud of you for having made it so far! I am sure you are already noticing the difference it has made to you and your family.
Now, let’s continue. We are almost at the halfway mark!
Day 12: Deep Clean the Kids room furniture
Last week you deep cleaned most of the kidsroom – the walls, ceiling, floors etc. If there was anything you didn’t manage to complete, begin with those tasks and then move on to this week’s tasks.
Today you will deep clean the kidsroom furniture in the room such as the study table, chairs and any other furniture and surfaces. Leave the closets and cabinets for another day.
Important Note:
So, whatever you do, don’t get overwhelmed and work at your own pace. It doesn’t matter if you take a bit longer to complete the challenge.
Do whatever works for you – skip certain tasks, add others. But, just clean something!
Today’s Cleaning Plan
Daily Cleaning Tasks: These tasks have definitely turned into a habit by now. But, do continue to use a checklist to make sure!!
Weekly Cleaning Tasks: Surface clean the Kidsroom and spend a little extra time in there, deep cleaning the furniture.
Monthly Deep Cleaning tasks
- Clean all surfaces and decorative items: Wipe down all surfaces, such as the study table and open shelves. Take off all items – knickknacks, books, toys, stationery items – from the surface, spray with a suitable cleaner and wipe down thoroughly. Then wipe down and clean the items and neatly arrange them back in place. Take inventory of items that can be removed, given away or replaced.
- Deep Clean the bed, mattress and pillows: Take off the pillows and the mattress and thoroughly wipe the bed frame. Dust under the bed too. Vacuum, deodorize and spot clean the mattress. vacuum/dust the pillows and if they are of the washable kind, wash and dry them.If and when necessary, get a professional deep cleaning done. Using a mattress protector helps keep the mattress clean and stain free. All you need to do is clean the protective sheath and only vacuum/dust the mattress.
- Deep Clean all other furniture: Deep clean the study table and chair and any other furniture that you may have in your kids room. Vacuum/dust and clean all upholstered and other furniture – tables, chairs etc.
- Clean the carpets, rugs etc: Take off carpets and rugs and clean the floor underneath. Clean the carpets and put them back. Spot clean any mild stains and if required. If warranted, get a professional cleaning done.

Tips to remember during the 30 Day House Cleaning Challenge
-
- Before you begin, gather all the necessary tools and keep them ready. You could get yourself a cleaning caddy or just use a basket or box.
- Decide on a specific amount of time that you can/will spend cleaning and set a timer. Work as quickly as you can within this time and don’t get distracted. (Except if it’s an emergency of some kind!)
- Start cleaning from the top of the room and work your way down. This will prevent dust falling on surfaces that you have already cleaned.
- Work from one side of the room to the other side, in a systematic matter, so that you don’t miss any spots.
- When the timer goes off, stop working! You can catch up with what you have missed during your next cleaning session.
- Use checklists to track your progress and to ensure that you don’t miss out anything. Checklists are especially useful in instances where you cannot complete a task and need to reschedule it.
