Day 9 – 30 Day House Cleaning Challenge: Deep Clean Bathroom Cabinets

Deep Clean the Bathroom Cabinets

Today is Day 9 of the “30 Day House Cleaning Challenge” and you are going to be cleaning your bathroom cabinets and any other bath furniture.

If you have more than one, you can choose to do one or more bathrooms depending on the amount of furniture you have in your bathrooms.

Day 9: Deep Clean Bathroom Cabinets

Deep Clean the Bathroom CabinetsIt is really important to keep the bathroom furniture clean and hygienic. Regular cleaning of bathroom furniture will also increase it’s life. While cleaning, do ensure that the cleaning agents used are not damaging to the bathroom furniture.

Today you will be cleaning all bathroom furniture, surfaces including cabinets and shelves. In addition you will deep clean the sink.

If your bathroom is big and you cannot complete all the tasks, you can continue with what’s left during the next bathroom cleanup.

Important Note:

Keep in mind that the time it takes you to complete the tasks, and the order in which you do them, depends entirely on you. It depends on your skill, your working style, the time that you can afford to put in each day, the size of your rooms and your cleanliness standards.
So, whatever you do, don’t get overwhelmed and work at your own pace. It doesn’t matter if you take a bit longer to complete the challenge.
Do whatever works for you – skip certain tasks, add others. But, just clean something!
Also be sure to check the notes at the end, for some useful tips to help you stay on track and save time cleaning.

Today’s Cleaning Plan

Daily Cleaning Tasks: Do not break this habit of carrying out your daily cleaning routine. However, you can tweak it if necessary.

Weekly Cleaning Tasks: Surface clean the Bathroom and spend some extra time deep cleaning the bathroom cabinets

Monthly Deep Cleaning tasks

  • Deep Clean all surfaces and tidy the counter: Remove items from the bathroom counter, spray it with some cleaner and wipe it down. Clean any stubborn stains. Then wipe the items and return them onto the counter, arranging them neatly.
Wipe down all open shelves, cabinet exteriors, doors, knobs, light switches etc

Spray your mirror with glass cleaner, then take a clean microfiber cloth or newspaper and wipe from top to bottom.

  • Deep Clean the sink and faucet: Scrub the sink clean using a cleaner of your choice. Spot clean any stubborn stains. Don’t forget to clean the faucets/taps. Use a toothbrush to clean the corners, edges and hard to clean areas.
  • Deep Clean bathroom cabinets and shelves: Empty all cabinets/drawers and clean them thoroughly inside. If needed, vacuum them to get rid of any dust or dirty and then wipe them clean with a suitable cleaner. Once the interiors are properly dry, replace and rearrange the contents. Remember to throw away any old, useless, expired items and make a note of what needs to be re-stocked or replaced.
After you are done cleaning the interior, wipe down all exterior surfaces of the cabinets, drawers etc.. If you have any open shelves in the bathroom, clean them similarly.
  • Deep Clean furniture and other equipment: If you have any other furniture or items in the bathroom that need cleaning, such as buckets, mugs, baby potty, etc. clean them thoroughly as well. Clean your bathroom and toilet cleaning tools too!

Tips to remember during the 30 Day House Cleaning Challenge

  1. Before you begin, gather all the necessary tools and keep them ready. You could get yourself a cleaning caddy or just use a basket or box.
  2. Decide on a specific amount of time that you can/will spend cleaning and set a timer. Work as quickly as you can within this time and don’t get distracted. (Except if it’s an emergency of some kind!)
  3. Start cleaning from the top of the room and work your way down. This will prevent dust falling on surfaces that you have already cleaned.
  4. Work from one side of the room to the other side, in a systematic matter, so that you don’t miss any spots.
  5. When the timer goes off, stop working! You can catch up with what you have missed during your next cleaning session.
  6. Use checklists to track your progress and to ensure that you don’t miss out anything. Checklists are especially useful in instances where you cannot complete a task and need to reschedule it.
